The campaign funds raised by the seven candidates vying for two seats on the Adams County Board of Commissioners range from nothing to more than $25,000.
So far, Kenneth Ciancio, who is battling Eva Henry in the Democratic primary in District 1, has raised the most, reporting $25,479.32 in contributions. Ciancio also has spent the most, with $15,233.15 in expenditures.
The winner of the Ciancio-Henry race will face off in November against the winner of the Republican primary, which features Gary Mikes and Kaarl Hoopes.
The race for District 2 includes Democrat Charles “Chaz” Tedesco, Republican Donnia Howell and James Fariello, who is representing the American Constitution Party and reported no campaign contributions.
The largest single donations include a $5,000 contribution from the United Steel Workers union to Tedesco, who is president of one of its locals, and $2,500 contributions each for Henry and Tedesco from U.S. Rep. Jared Polis, D-Colo.
Other notable donors include philanthropist Pat Stryker, who made a $1,000 contribution to Henry; Kenneth McIntosh, a dairy farmer in Brighton who donated $2,000 to Mikes; and Susan Polis Schutz, who donated $3,000 to Tedesco.
Commissioner Alice Nichol, a Democrat who is the subject of a criminal investigation into her relationship with Quality Paving, abandoned her re-election bid this year. Commissioner W.R. “Skip” Fischer, also a Democrat, is not seeking re-election.
