COFFEEMAKERS

Details: This recall involves Black & Decker 12-cup mountable coffeemakers. Available in either white or black, the words “BLACK & DECKER SPACEMAKER” are printed in the top right-hand corner. The coffeemakers have a digital time display in the top left corner and five round buttons above the water reservoir. The 12-cup coffee pots are glass with a molded handle the same color as the machine and a silver metallic bracket running around the glass near the bottom. These were sold from July 2008 through May 2012 for about $50 to $80 at major retailers nationwide.

Why: The coffee pot handle can break, causing cuts and burns to the consumer.

Incidents: The firm has received 1,276 reports of handles breaking, including 68 reports of burns and/or cuts.

How many: About 159,000

Remedy: Consumers should immediately stop using the coffeemakers and contact the distributor, Applica Consumer Products Inc. of Miramar, Fla., to exchange their coffee pot for a free replacement: 866-708-7846 or

CONVERTIBLE HIGH CHAIR

Details: Evenflo Convertible High Chairs were sold at Toys “R” Us and Walmart stores nationwide and online at Walmart.com and Wayfair.com between December 2011 and June 2012 for about $40. This product converts from a high chair to toddler-size table and chair.

Why: The activity tray on the high chair can unexpectedly detach and allow an unrestrained child to fall, posing a risk of injury to the child.

Incidents: Evenflo has received 18 reports of trays that detached, including eight reports of children who fell from the high chair and suffered bumps and bruises.

How many: About 35,000 in the United States

Remedy: Consumers with the recalled high chairs should immediately contact Evenflo for a replacement tray with installation and use instructions: 800-233-5921 or

DUMBBELLS

Details: Bowflex SelectTech 1090 Dumbbells are black steel. They are sold in pairs and can have a weight capacity of 10 to 90 pounds. The word “BOWFLEX” is written in gray along the top of each handle. A selector dial on each end of the cradle lists weights in red, starting at 10 and increasing in increments of 5. The red Bowflex logo is at the center of the dial. This recall involves units with a date-of-manufacture code in the serial number in the range of 1111 through 1136. Dumbbells with a black dot on the inside portion of the weight-selector dial are not affected by this recall. The recalled dumbbells were sold at sporting goods stores, Nautilus.com and other online retailers from May 2011 through August 2011 for about $600.

Why: The weight-selector dial on the units can fail, causing weight plates to fall when the dumbbell is lifted from its cradle, posing an injury hazard.

Incidents: The distributor, Nautilus Inc., has received 16 reports of the weight-selector dial failing, including three reports of injuries to the user’s foot or leg.

How many: About 17,000

Remedy: Consumers should stop using the recalled dumbbells immediately and contact Nautilus for a free repair kit: 800-416-7271 or .
