DENVER—The Regional Transportation District says two people have been taken to a hospital after a collision between a car and a light rail train in Denver.

RTD spokesman Scott Reed says witnesses reported that a car heading north on Speer Boulevard on Wednesday afternoon ran a red light and struck a light rail train that was eastbound on Stout Street.

Reed tells KMGH-TV in Denver ( ) that two people in the car were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. One train passenger complained of a shoulder injury and was treated at the scene.
