CASTLE ROCK, Colo.—Douglas County teachers could lose their jobs unless they make their own deals with the district.

So far, about 2,200 of nearly 3,000 teachers have signed individual contracts. The rest have until Friday.

According to the Denver Post ( ), talks between the teachers union and the administration have stalled and their contract expires June 30.

Remaining issues include salaries, a pay-for-performance plan and the district’s desire to remove the union as the exclusive bargaining unit representing the teachers.
