BELLVUE, Colo.—A new wildfire in Colorado is forcing some residents from their homes.
The fire was burning on about 10 acres Thursday about a mile northwest of the town of Lake George in Park County.
Residents within a one-mile radius of the fire have gotten warning calls. No mandatory evacuation orders have been issued but some people are leaving.
Authorities say the fire has the potential to spread because of heavy fuels.
In northern Colorado, some residents evacuated by 78-square-mile wildfire were being allowed back home.
Firefighters there continue to build containment lines but their work keeps growing because the fire has been spreading. That’s mainly due to growth on the fire’s west side where there are many beetle-killed trees.
The fire has burned over 100 structures, including at least 31 homes.
