A 31-year-old Denver man suspected of domestic violence refused to leave his home today, so police set up a perimeter around the property at 3140 St. Paul St.

Police responded to the call around 3 p.m. They determined the suspect had several misdemeanor warrants and one domestic violence warrant out for his arrest.

According to Det. John White of the Denver Police Department, officers took the man into custody about 6 p.m.

Penelope Zeller, who lives in the neighborhood, said she was coming home around 4 p.m. when she saw the police cars.

“I don’t know exactly what happened down there but, after what I’ve heard, I think we should just let him think about it in jail for a bit,” Zeller said. “This is very unusual for this neighborhood and it’s just not what we’re about.”
