The 30-acre fire west of Lake George was fully contained by Friday evening, U.S. Forest Service officials said.
With the help of a slight drizzle over the blaze, crews were able to begin mop-up, or dousing the smoldering trees and logs in the burn area, said fire information officer Dawn Sanchez.
The Arkansas Fire, reported to be 40 acres Thursday night, only burned about 30 acres, Sanchez said, noting that initial reports were based on visual estimates. She said crews were able to map the fire Thursday night for the more accurate assessment.
No structures were damaged and no injuries were reported.
