The Denver Post

Over the weekend in Aspen, performed and did not. At least not on stage.

Costello assembled a one-time band, the Blue Beguilers, for a concert celebrating the 30th annual Food & Wine Classic in Aspen June 16.

Green rolled into town to promote his spirits brand, TY KU, at a party June 15. “I am here to meet and greet and give the kisses to the ladies,” he told The Denver Post as his girlfiend, Shaneeka James sat by his side on a squishy white sofa.

“We are in Aspen enjoying wine and food — and my own personal sake,” he said, diamond-studded teeth sparkling in the late-afternoon sun. “It’s a nice, clean aphrodisiac — subtle, sexy.”

The “F*ck You” singer’s plan was to eat in his hotel room and “you know, walk around, take some time off. I’m gonna take it all in and soak up the sun.”

Asked about the white cat he often holds in “The Voice,” Green said he brought his kids, but not the cat. “Everybody loves that cat! What is it about Purrfect?”

Costello and his Imposters’ bandmates Pete Thomas on drums and Davey Faragher on bass, and John McFee (of the Doobie Brothers, who also played on “My Aim is True”) on pedal steel guitar, electric guitar and electric violin, the band played about an hour and a half in the Benedict Music Tent, home to the more classically inclined Aspen Music Festival.

Tickets for the show were $350, and a portion of the proceeds will go to Chefs Make Change charities.

Chefs José Andrés, Mario Batali and Michel Nischan catered the event, which included Stella Artois beers, Gallo wines and Belvedere Lemon Tea.
