FEDERAL WAY, Wash. — Conifer High graduate Benjamin Grado advanced to the platform finals at the USA Diving Olympic trials late Tuesday night.

Grado was 10th after the semifinals Tuesday night, and the top 12 advance to the finals, which are Saturday. Grado had 743.85 points after the semifinals and is 339.90 points behind top qualifier David Boudia.

Grado’s best dive of his six in the semifinals was his first, which was an inward 3½ somersault tuck that earned him 80.00 points and was third best in the round. The top two divers after the finals will make the Olympic team.

Grado, , advanced to the semifinals after finishing ninth in the prelims earlier in the day with 370.0 points.

He will compete later Wednesday in the 3-meter springboard prelims.
