 Denver-based ProBuild Holdings Inc. has eliminated 127 corporate positions primarily affecting employees in the finance, marketing and human resources departments.

The company, which will have approximately 9,000 employees nationwide after the cuts, said in a statement that the reduction was made in an effort to reduce costs and “better serve our customers.

“ProBuild has taken these actions to better align its operations for greater efficiencies and better position its business for the near future to leverage its national platform in the building supply industry,” the company said.

The affected employees were informed Tuesday. While some left immediately, others are staying for a short period of time to help in the transition.

The company is a supplier of building materials to national builders, local contractors and what it describes as “do-it-yourselfers.”

The company has locations in 40 states, but serves 42 .

ProBuild has a number of types of facilities, from lumber yards to hardware stores or a mixture of the two. It also has distribution centers that service the variety of locations.

ProBuild was formed in 2006 .
