Denver Post business reporter David Migoya was recognized Friday by the National Association of Real Estate Editors for his reporting on Colorado’s foreclosure system.

Migoya’s coverage of the state’s public-trustee system and the players that influence how homes are taken back by lenders received the “Best Series” award at the organization’s annual conference, held in Denver. The award covered all media and all platforms of publication.

“The engaging series resulted in legislators introducing reform bills targeting the key issues raised in the series,” the judges said of Migoya’s stories. “The outrage factor was magnified by the personal stories of the victims.”

Second prize was awarded to Scot Paltrow at Reuters.

Migoya’s stories also received second prize for best investigation.

Judging was done by the E.W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University.

Migoya’s foreclosure coverage was recognized earlier this year by the Society of American Business Editors and Writers.
