The Denver Police Department reported Thursday that someone impersonating a Denver Police sergeant has been demanding money from unsuspecting individuals.
The impersonator allegedly told the victim that he owed $3,000 on his loan and would charge him if he did not pay $300 to the police department.
The Denver Police Department said it does not solicit or negotiate payment over the phone. If a person has doubt about a phone call received from a police officer, he or she should call 720-913-2000 to confirm the identity.
