LOVELAND, Colo.—Two men are dead and a boy has been taken to a hospital after their boat apparently overturned on a Loveland pond.

The Larimer County Sheriff’s Department says rescuers rushed to the pond after witnesses reported hearing a child scream for help Thursday night.

Coroner’s officials said Friday that 68-year-old Myron Gilliand and his 37-year-old son, Rickie Pickett, were fishing on a private pond when they fell from their boat and drowned.

A boy 10 to 13 years old was rescued from an island and taken to a hospital. His condition wasn’t available.

The men were from LaSalle. No hometown was given for the boy.

The men’s relationship to the boy wasn’t clear, but witness Kylar DeLuca tells the Loveland Reporter-Herald ( ) of hearing the boy calling for his father.
