, a four-time Vezina Trophy winner who becomes an NHL free agent Sunday, hired prominent agent Pat Brisson.
Brisson confirmed in a text Friday that he has been hired by Brodeur, who completed the final year of his contract. Though Brodeur has indicated he’d prefer re-signing with the Devils, Brisson wrote “We will see” when asked if the goalie would consider testing free agency.
Brodeur, who has spent his entire 19-year career with the Devils, previously represented himself in negotiating deals.
The 40-year-old star leads NHL goalies in most statistical career categories, including regular-season victories (656), regular-season shutouts (119) and playoff shutouts (24).
After a slow start to last season, he helped the Devils advance to the Stanley Cup Finals.
