Sixty people from 25 countries took the Oath of Allegiance on Monday to become U.S. citizens during a special session in Centennial.

Denver District Judge Christina Habas administered the oath during a special session of court scheduled to commemorate Independence Day.

For Habas, Monday’s ceremony marked her last as a district judge. She announced earlier this year that she was leaving the bench this month to join a local law firm.

The Denver ceremony was one of about 45 such gatherings around the country at which more than 4,000 people officially became U.S. Citizens.

Those included special ceremonies at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia; Comerica Park in Detroit; the National World War II Museum in New Orelans; Kandahar Air Force Base in Afghanistan; Homestead-Miami Speedway in Florida; the ambassador’s residence in Tegucigalpa, Honduras; and aboard the USS Midway Museum in San Diego and the USS Constitution in Charlestown, Mass.
