A worker was injured in a construction accident Monday afternoon, buried up to his chest in dirt in a trench in Golden Gate Canyon.
The accident happened about 12:50 p.m. at 34741 Golden Gate Canyon Road, said Jacki Kelley, a Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman.
The victim, a man in his early 20s, did not lose consciousness during the ordeal, Kelley said.
Rescue personnel with Golden Gate Fire Protection District, Golden Fire Department and West Metro Fire Protection District, are working to safely free the man.
A medical helicopter is on standby to fly the victim to a local hospital if necessary. Further details on his injuries were not available.
The cause of the accident is under investigation.
