A back yard deck suddenly collapsed and fell about 10 feet into a Littleton home Tuesday evening, injuring four people, officials say.
Four ambulances rushed the injured to two area hospitals. The names of the injured have not been released.
The accident happened at 9:34 p.m. at 7681 W. Ottawa Place, said Roland Seno, operations division chief for Littleton Fire Rescue.
Between 10 and 15 adults were standing on the deck during a back yard party when it suddenly gave way and collapsed diagonally into the home, falling about 10 feet, Seno said.
“It would be a little like being in a chair and having it falling underneath you without seeing it coming,” he said.
A Littleton building inspector was called to the home, he said.
Firefighters stabilized the deck before leaving the home, Seno said.
