A former newspaper building, a one-time jail and a freight depot in Central City are among the properties that are on the auction block. Williams & Williams is slated to auction zoned for gaming in the mountain gambling town July 27. The starting bid is $250,000.

The package includes “five historic buildings including the Miller & Koch building, the Seavey Building, the Hawley Warehouse … the Register Call building previously home to the community newspaper, the Register-Call, and the original freight depot for the Colorado & Southern Railway,” said Williams & Williams, a Tulsa, Okla.-based auction company.

The jail consists of “a small stone building with concrete steps, wooden door, skylight and windows with jail bars.” The jail site includes a “one bedroom, one bath home with a detached one-car garage and storage shed.”

The auction will be conducted in person and online. People interested in touring the property can attend one of the public open inspections Friday or July 20 from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. or two hours prior to the auction. Information is available at: .
