LOUDON, N.H. — Denver-based NASCAR driver Regan Smith will start 17th on Sunday in the Sprint Cup race at New Hampshire Motor Speedway. In time trials Friday, his No. 78 Furniture Row Chevrolet completed a lap on the 1.058-mile oval at 132.393 mph.

“I just couldn’t get off the corners very good,” Smith said, “but we will work on that and get this car dialed in for Sunday.”

Kyle Busch (133.417 mph) won the pole for the Lenox Industrial Tools 301. The rest of the top 10, in order: Kasey Kahne, Denny Hamlin, Martin Truex Jr., Clint Bowyer, Ryan Newman, Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Tony Stewart.
