Getting your player ready...

Rockies infielder Chris Nelson was hospitalized Monday night and is undergoing tests for an irregular heartbeat, according to the club.

He will remain hospitalized overnight.

Nelson has been bothered by a left ankle injury, but played Sunday against the Phillies going 1-for-3. He was not at batting practice Monday, which was unusual for the 26-year-old.

Out of minor-league options, Nelson made the Rockies’ opening day roster and has played predominantly at second (17 games) and third base (45). He is hitting .256 with five home runs and 23 RBIs.

Nelson is a former first-round pick, taken by the Rockies as the ninth selection in 2004 out of Redan (Ga.) High School. He turned down a scholarship from the University of Georgia to sign with the Rockies.
