All aboard! The S.S. Coachella is set to sail, with trips to the Bahamas on Dec. 16-19, and Jamaica on Dec. 19-23, 2012. The lists Pulp, Hot Chip, Yeasayer, Girl Talk, James Murphy of LCD Soundsystem and Sleigh Bells, among other acts, will perform at the “music festival at sea.” Thetickets will start at $500, going up to $9,000. Tickets go on sale Saturday.
The ship, the Celebrity Silhouette, can hold 2,800 fans. There is even half-acre of grass on board. Goldenvoice president Paul Tollett told the Times, “Some sets will be longer than usual. We don’t have a curfew.” Learn more at the official website: ss.coachella.com/index.php

Cruise ships carry a fairly bad rap for on-board entertainment, but that could soon turn around for one of music’s biggest festivals.
The Goldenvoice promoters behind have a big announcement scheduled for 6 p.m. PST Tuesday, and rumor has it fans will get to set sail on a music-themed cruise.
that sources “familiar with Goldenvoice’s plans” say the cruise would hit the high seas in Florida, leaving as soon as this December.
While the Times could not say definitely what exactly the announcement will entail, one artist representative who works with Goldenvoice said, “the ship looks amazing.”
No word yet about cost, or who might play, but music-themed cruises have been gaining traction in the business. There are cruises featuring , and .
There is also talk that the pending announcement will reveal a long-term home for Coachella. Earlier this month, Goldenvoice threatened to leave Indio, Calif. in favor of a new location if a was put in place.
