ASPEN, Colo.—Pitkin County authorities say a New York paramedic whose body was found on mountain peaks known as the Maroon Bells likely died from injuries suffered in a fall.
According to the Aspen Times (), Pitkin County authorities were fingerprinting the body Tuesday to confirm it was that of 31-year-old Leonard Joyner.
Joyner’s family had called Pitkin County sheriff’s officials in the Aspen area after he didn’t show up for work in New York on Saturday.
Authorities have said Joyner was climbing the peaks of the Maroon Bells, which are more than 14,000 feet, last week.
Sheriff’s officials say Mountain Rescue Aspen members doing an aerial search spotted a body on North Maroon Peak on Tuesday morning.
