The anti-Wal-Mart faction promises to be a vocal presence again at another public meeting on a developer’s controversial plan for the so-called 9th and Colorado project.

Thursday’s meeting, hosted by the Colorado Boulevard Healthcare District, is scheduled for 4 p.m. at National Jewish Health’s Molly Blank Conference Center, 1400 Jackson St.

Developer Jeff Fuqua is proposing to build a Walmart as the anchor for the 28-acre redevelopment project on the former University of Colorado Hospital campus.

Most neighbors have made it clear they want the project but not the Walmart.

City Councilwoman Mary Beth Susman said she has received multiple e-mails in advance of Thursday’s meeting. “You can bet it will be heavily attended, just like the meeting in June,” she said.

At a public hearing Wednesday on design guidelines and standards for the development, the Denver Planning Board, after hearing from Wal-Mart opponents, voted unanimously to recommend approval with certain conditions.
