GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—A former Grand Junction police officer has been ordered to stand trial on charges alleging he had sexual contact with an underage girl.
A judge at a preliminary hearing Monday for 42-year-old Eric Janusz found probable cause for eight charges, including sexual assault on a child by one in a position of trust.
The Daily Sentinel reports () Janusz’s attorney, Colleen Scissors, used the hearing to try to punch holes in the story of Janusz’s accuser.
The accuser testified Monday that she had sexual encounters with Janusz starting in July 2000, when she was 16. An arrest affidavit says the two met while Janusz was investigating a case involving her brother.
