Urban Fair: Denver County Fair mixes it up for second year
Friday-Sunday: An urban answer to a rural tradition, the second annual Denver County Fair will build on last year’s quirky brew to bring 275 events to 13 stages at the National Western Complex this weekend. It features the usual fair suspects, such as an indoor, kid-friendly carnival, food and beer vendors, local artists and a petting zoo, but also a Geek Pavilion (with fighting robots and a gaming area) and 250 blue-ribbon competitions for such self-consciously hip things as zombie beauty pageants, speed knitting, the “Best Frida Kahlo Unibrow” and best tattoos and mustaches. 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Friday-Saturday; 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday. 4655 Humboldt St. $10 parking. $5-$10 per day admission; $25 three-day pass. .
