Shroom with a view
This year’s Telluride Mushroom Festival, or Shroomfest 32, is Thursday through Aug. 19. Exploring all aspects of the fungal world, this four-day event includes lectures, performances, a growing workshop, a parade and local restaurants offering gourmet wild mushroom specials.
Double the pleasure
Aspen’s 40th annual Motherlode Volleyball Classic runs Aug. 30-Sept. 3, where 700 teams from all over the country compete in the largest doubles event in America. Admission is free. Food, drinks and music are on-site all weekend.
Fiery, fun fiesta
The Salsa Fiesta in Creede, scheduled this year for Aug. 31-Sept. 3, celebrates all things peppery and hot. Live music, a homemade-salsa contest, a balloon festival and a gravity derby fill the streets of Creede and Mineral County.
