Getting your player ready...
The Food Bank of the Rockies will hand out 1,000 boxes filled with locally grown fruits and vegetables to area seniors today, officials say.
The contributions are paid for through a grant from the Rocky Mountain Farmers Union and the Colorado Department of Human Services.
It’s part of a program to encourage seniors to improve and expand their diets with healthy fruits and vegetables.
Each person will get a watermelon, cantaloupe, cucumbers, yellow squash, green peppers, cabbage, carrots, onions, corn, an acorn squash, potatoes, peaches and three kinds of lettuce.
Seniors will be able to get their boxes of produce between 9 a.m. and noon today at 10700 E. 45th Ave. in Denver.
