BOULDER, Colo.—Colorado Parks and Wildlife rangers shot one mountain lion and scared off another after the two animals wandered into Boulder.
Agency spokeswoman Jennifer Churchill tells the Daily Camera ( ) the first mountain lion was spotted around 8 p.m. Monday near Folsom and Walnut streets in a backyard hot tub area.
Rangers tried to trap the cat but instead decided to scare it away from the buildings. Churchill says rangers still hope to catch the mountain lion later and place a tracker on it.
The second mountain lion was spotted later that night near Mapleton Avenue and 26th Street. Churchill says that due to the location and the fact that the animal had killed a house cat and wasn’t afraid of humans, rangers decided to put it down.
