“This is my dream salon,” Matthew Morris says while leading a tour of his . The hairstylist and “Shear Genius” contestant recently relocated a few blocks south of the salon he opened six years ago and is like a kid in his own candy store. What makes it so dreamy? It’s bigger, for one thing. At 6,000 square feet it’s almost three times the size of his previous salon. And he now has 26 stations, a big bar in the center where stylists mix color, skincare rooms, a conference center and a call center in the back. On the site of a former theater (and before that, a grocery store), the salon is a mixture of ritzy and rustic, with crystal chandeliers for lighting (along with abundant natural light), and such touches as longhorns mounted on the wall and a saddle flanking a sofa. Morris collaborated with Fin Art in creating mobile styling stations from railroad warehouse carts. All the furnishings are on wheels, so that they can be pushed to the walls to transform the salon into an event space. Matthew Morris Salon and Skincare, 13 S. Broadway. Hours are 8 a.m.- 8 p.m. Tuesday-Friday , 8 a.m.-6 p.m.Saturday. 303-715-4673.
