This week, much ado was made about and her supposedly newfound Republican party affiliation.
“I’m a Republican voting for Mitt Romney / you lazy bitches are f*cking up the economy,” she raps on Lil’ Wayne’s new mixtape, “Dedication 4.” Only problem? decided to do some digging, and turns out, Ms. Minaj isn’t registered to vote as a Republican. In fact, she isn’t registered to vote at all.
A search of voter registrations in California and New York, the two states where the pop star owns houses, returned no results. Unless she’s secretly registered to vote in some other state, Minaj, whose real name is Onika Tanya Maraj, won’t be voting at all come November. The deadline to register to vote is Oct. 26.
And, as an added bonus, it still isn’t clear if Minaj is an American citizen (she was born in St. James, Trinidad and Tobago).
