A 21-year-old woman was arrested Sunday after she was involved in a crash that sent a Denver Police officer to the hospital.
Steve Hipwell, a spokesman for Lakewood Police Department, said the accident occurred at about 4:30 a.m. near the intersection of South Sheridan Boulevard and Yale Avenue within Lakewood’s jurisdiction.
The female Denver officer, whose name was not released, was on duty at the time and driving south on Sheridan Boulevard.
A northbound driver crossed the median into the path of the officer, who managed to swerve slightly, just missing a centered head-on collision, Hipwell said.
The officer was transported to the hospital, where she was treated for minor injuries and released.
The driver of the vehicle that swerved into the officer’s path was transported to the hospital, and has since also been released.
The 21-year-old woman, whose name was not immediately available, has been charged with driving under the influence and careless driving, among other charges, Hipwell said.
