DENVER—A federal jury has awarded Lake County sheriff’s deputies $33,000 in a pay dispute with county officials.

The nine current and former deputies said county commissioners, County Clerk Patricia Berger and the sheriff’s office violated federal law by not paying all wages due them and violated the deputies’ constitutional right to due process.

According to the Pueblo Chieftain ( ), the deputies alleged they were paid only for 80 hours of work despite normally working 84 hours or more in two-week pay periods. During that time, they worked seven 12-hour shifts in a pay period.
