Newmont Mining Corp.,the largest U.S. gold producer, has cut 34 of about 800 jobs at its Greenwood Village headquarters, according to company spokesman Omar Jabara.
“Newmont publicly stated in May that it is looking at its global operations, general and administrative costs and projects to identify opportunities to improve efficiency, due to rising costs across the mining industry,” the company said in a statement.
Newmont employed about 16,600 people in 2011, according to Bloomberg data.
