If theatre is evil then and the Grand Theft Orchestra are its wicked players, bringing to the stage a level of performance that could empassion anyone. Armed with a trio powerful enough to match her presence, Palmer and the GTO let loose nearly every song from their brilliant (and Billboard-charting) album, “Theatre is Evil,” at the on Friday.

The band was a force throughout the performance. From the opening drums of “Smile” to the delicate and punishing “Berlin,” Jherek Bischoff (bass), Michael McQuilken (drums) and Chad Raines (guitar) fit their roles perfectly with solid musicianship and theatrics performed in the spirit of improvisation that Palmer so embraces.

While the show had many highlights, the most stunning was ”Bottomfeeder,” in which Palmer sang while floating atop the crowd, extensions from her dress streaming over the audience.

The evening closed with a packed stage for “Leeds United.” Sounds from the Per Vita String Quartet, saxophone duo Ronald Reagan, and the Boulder Bassoon Quartet combined for a thrilling finish to a concert that had so many captivated by an ever-evolving artist and her band.
