DENVER—A search is on after a cracked water line infiltrated gas lines in a Denver neighborhood, prompting Xcel Energy to shut off about 180 natural gas meters to homes and businesses.

Because of the leak, residents have been unable to cook on gas stoves or warm water since Saturday.

Xcel spokeswoman Michelle Aguayo says finding the breaches and making repairs has been difficult. Aguayo says there is no timetable for how much longer the problem will take to resolve.

A nearby recreation center is offering residents the opportunity to take warm showers.
