Backed by a full band, Kendrick Lamar performed a really slick version of “Poetic Justice” on “David Letterman” on Tuesday night. With some screaming saxophone melodies and solos, it seems that Lamar’s live performance is really getting as big as he is. Even the improvement since Lamar’s performance on “Saturday Night Live” was obvious. There were a few other great moments with the performance on Tuesday night, though.
First was Letterman carefully saying “rapper from Compton Calif.” as if he had never said any of those words. Next was that Drake didn’t show up and didn’t ruin the entire performance. Then after the song Letterman walked over and stood on stage, making Lamar look like some tiny person. Either Letterman is really tall, or Lamar is really short.
Lamar will be performing in Colorado at the cold, mountain SnowBall Music Festival next month.
