A Brighton elementary school student ran into South Elementary Tuesday morning saying that a man in a red car asked her to get into his vehicle as she walked to school.
Brighton police spokesman John Bradley said police are investigating the report.
The girl said she was followed for a short distance by a man wearing a gray hoodie-type sweatshirt behind the wheel of a red or maroon 4-door vehicle. The man told her to get into the car, which she described as having black coloring near its rear.
Bradley also said his department has been in contact with Westminster PD and other agencies investigating the murder of 10 year-old Jessica Ridgeway about the incident.
Brighton police have increased patrols around area schools.
