Denver police have arrested a man suspected of robbing three businesses within an hour Sunday after he crashed an SUV into another vehicle before flipping over in a front yard near the intersection of Florida Avenue and Osceola Street.
The suspect, who was behind the wheel of a tan Chevrolet sports utility vehicle, struck another vehicle before tumbling into the yard, and fleeing on foot, said Denver police spokesman Sonny Jackson. Police caught him a short distance away.
Between noon and 1 p.m. the man is suspected of robbing a Bradley Gas Station at 2698 W. Alameda Ave., a Level 7 Games store, 2385 W. Alameda Ave., and Ritas Records, a music store at 3606 Morrison Road.
“He told me he wanted the money and he put a gun on me,” said Jose Hinojosa, manager of Ritas Records.
The robber demanded Hinojosa give him only large bills, but the managers had only small denominations. Hinojosa turned over about $100, he said.
It was the fourth time he has been robbed in the store, he said.
Officers recognized the suspect’s vehicle after a description was broadcast. “Officers spotted the vehicle and he took off,” Jackson said.
Police recovered a gun at the scene of the crash, Jackson said.
