Tis the season for many things, but one tradition that hasn’t caught on yet en masse is the holiday bluegrass stomp-down. Both late December and bluegrass shows involve stills upon stills of hastily bought alcohol and cathartic reunions, so really, you could argue the combination only makes sense.

If you happen to be in Colorado post-apocalypse/pre-2013, start the tradition off this New Year’s season with any of these hand-picked string groups playing nearby.

1.  — Boulder, CO. . Dec 28-31 (NYE show sold-out)

2.  — Estes Park, CO. The Rock Inn Mountain Tavern. Dec 28

3.   — Lyons, CO. Oskar Blues Grill and Brew. Dec 28

4. — Frisco, CO. The Barkley Ballroom. Dec 29

5.  — Colorado Springs, CO. Meadow Muffins Bar and Grill. Dec 31
