Manhunt for music teacher accused of sex assaults ends in western Colorado

PALISADE, Colo. (AP)—A nationwide manhunt for a man accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl has ended in Garfield County in Colorado, where he is being held without bail.

The Daily Sentinel reports () that authorities arrested 59-year-old James David Tiner early Saturday after receiving tips from the public.

Tiner advertised his music teacher services in newspapers in 2009 and 2010. He is accused of sexually assaulting an 8-year-old girl during music lessons at his home in Palisade, in Mesa County.

Police obtained an arrest warrant in April but his trail went cold until the FBI obtained a fugitive warrant and released Tiner’s photograph as part of a nationwide search. Authorities believed he had been hiding in the Ozark Mountain region of Arkansas.
