The Arapahoe County coroner’s office says a 22-year-old near an Aurora business likely froze to death.

Marcellus Xavier Scott, 22, was found on the 12100 block of East Iliff Avenue near BeanTree Coffee at about 9 a.m. Wednesday.

The preliminary cause of death for Scott, who was not homeless, was hypothermia, according to Tamara Davis, deputy coroner.

A final determination will be made following toxicology testing, which will determine whether Scott was intoxicated, Davis said.

Although Aurora police treated the location where Scott was found a crime scene, there were no visible signs of physical injury.

Scott was arrested on a drunken driving charge in February.
