BRIGHTON, Colo.—Authorities say an Adams County sheriff’s deputy has shot and killed a suspected drunken driver.
The shooting happened after a 911 caller reported a suspected drunken driver Monday night. The caller then said the driver had rolled the vehicle.
According to Adams County sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Terrance O’Neill, a deputy was approaching the rolled vehicle when a man near the vehicle allegedly pointed a handgun at the deputy. O’Neill says the deputy fired twice, killing the man.
The incident happened at about 6 p.m. Monday near 142nd Avenue and Quebec Street.
The names of the deputy and the suspect were not immediately released.
