vocalist David Draiman announced today that the much anticipated debut album from his side project, Device, will be released April 9 via Warner Bros Records.
Draiman, who has been on hiatus from Disturbed since 2011, teamed up with former Filter guitarist Geno Lenardo to write the album, which Draiman described in a press release as “not metal.”
“It’s influenced by early Industrial rock and has a dark electronic vibe,” he said. “At the same time, these are big, anthemic, and intensely melodic songs. It’s futuristic rock.”
Device could be labeled as a rock “supergroup” after snagging Evanescence drummer Will Hope and Dope/Eve to Adam guitarist Virus. The debut album will also feature collaborations with Black Sabbath bassist Geezer Butler, Deep Purple vocalist/bassist Glenn Hughes, Avenged Sevenfold vocalist M. Shadows, Serj Tankian of System of a Down, Rage Against the Machine’s Tom Morello and Halestorm’s Lizzy Hale.
Device’s first single “Vilify” is reported to hit radio on Feb. 19.
