Be proactive: manage costly peer pressure
It can be hard to say no to those office coffee runs every day, even though you know you’re spending $20 or more a week on coffee just to stay involved in the group. But there’s no denying that social time in an office setting is valuable.
One clever suggestion from personal-finance site WiseBread is to prepare . It would be cheaper than all those coffee runs, and if you keep the cake, cookies or bread near your desk, you’ll get a chance to chat up those co-workers a bit, too.
This works in your personal life, too, of course — if you take an active role in planning outings, you’ll be able to choose budget-friendlier entertainment.
