DENVER—A jury has convicted a 28-year-old man of kidnapping and sexually assaulting an 8-year-old Denver girl.
The Denver Post reports ( ) jurors deliberated for only an hour and a half Monday before reaching the verdict against Bret Lee Luckett Thompson, who is scheduled to be sentenced May 30.
He was accused of abducting the girl from an alley where she was playing June 2, 2011. The girl was found later that day at a gas station, and Thompson was arrested about two weeks later in North Brunswick, N.J.
The girl, now 10, testified at trial that she made her abductor pinky promise that he wouldn’t hurt her, but it didn’t stop him from raping her.
Luckett, who was born in jail, had pleaded not guilty by reason of insanity.
