Five teenagers suspected in a burglary that led to a gun scare on a Jefferson County high school campus are facing criminal charges.
The Feb. 20 incident happened at a home near Standley Lake High School in Westminster.
The juveniles allegedly stole guns, electronics and jewelry from a home and left guns on the school grounds.
Two guns were found by a school staffer who notified police. Investigators found three stolen rifles and one shotgun on the campus, as well as other stolen items, according to a Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office media release.
Investigators do not believe there was a direct threat to any of the high school staff or students.
The names of the juveniles are not being released.
• Two 16-year-old males, and one 15- year-old male, face charges of second- degree burglary, theft, possession of a weapon on school grounds and theft.
• One 15-year-old male faces a charge of theft receiving between $1,0000 – $20,000.
• One 16-year-old male faces a charge of theft receiving under $500.
The defendants are scheduled to be in court on March 20.
