BOULDER, Colo.—A special prosecutor has been requested to handle the domestic violence case against a Boulder High School principal arrested on suspicion of domestic violence, child abuse and criminal mischief following a dispute with his wife.
Boulder County District Attorney Stan Garnett made the request because people in his office routinely work with Kevin Braney in his capacity as principal.
Police say they were called to a Boulder home Wednesday after Braney’s wife Andrea said he began destroying property involved in their divorce case. Police say Braney was charged with child abuse for allowing a child to witness the violence.
According to the Boulder Daily Camera (), Braney told police he did not yell at his wife or touch her, though they did have stern words about finances.
