VAIL, Colo.—The U.S. Forest Service has approved a Vail Mountain proposal to upgrade two of its chairlifts.

The proposal to upgrade the Gopher Hill Lift from a two-seater to a three-seater and the Mountaintop Express from a detachable quad to a six-seater was submitted in late February and has been under review.

According to the Vail Daily ( ), the public comment period ended March 29, but Thursday’s approval is not final. The proposal has now entered a 45-day appeal period.
