 Average retail gasoline prices in Colorado have fallen 3 cents a gallon in the past week, averaging $3.53 a gallon Sunday. Prices in Colorado on Sunday were 33 cents a gallon lower than the same day one year ago and were unchanged from a month ago.

Across the nation, prices fell 5 cents a gallon in the past week, averaging $3.52 a gallon, according to

“The national average continues to be driven down as oil prices have fallen in recent weeks,” said Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy.com. “The year-on-year saving is approaching 40 cents a gallon in some spots — not necessarily hitting the lottery, but every cent counts.”

DeHaan said that as the nation approaches Memorial Day, there is also the chance of an increase in pricing volatility because refinery-maintenance season will be gradually coming to a close.

GasBuddy operates and more than 250 similar websites that track gasoline prices at more than 140,000 gasoline stations in the United States and Canada.
