Thursday. The Newman Center always comes up with concerts you don’t see anywhere else in Denver, and “Strings on Fire” fits snugly into that category. The eclectic triple-bill features Brazilian-born brothers Sérgio and Odair Assad, whose guitar work covers everything from traditional Brazilian sounds to contemporary classical; Joshua Roman, a cellist, TED fellow and new-music enthusiast who hails from Seattle; and Mak Grgi, a 25-year-old guitarist from Slovenia who has garnered critical raves across the globe. Expect some serious cross-cultural jamming. Newman Center, 2344 E. Iliff Ave., on the University of Denver campus. $26-$49 (and Newman Center Presents events always have free parking). 303-871-7720 or .
